I have created one of a kind unique wearable art in the form of necklaces using ethnic, old, vintage components, and sometimes with elements from nature in my Ancestor Collections line. Over the years it has gotten harder and harder to find the old beads and pieces to incorporate into my line. These necklaces make quite a statement for those wearing. I am offering up the last pieces I have and do wonder about being able to continue this precious line of jewelry. You will find that I use a lot of cording when structuring as well as more contemporary beads, semi-precious stones, and findings to make the completed compositions. When you are wearing one of these necklaces you will feel the ancestors walking with you. Truly a very special line created for that sui generis individual.
LHAMO Crystal Pendant
This is a design from finding these antique Tibetan clear crystal beads used in the drop pendant. Very rare pieces I found from a bead importer and antiques dealer. The very name is that of a Tibetan Buddhist goddess. Lhamo is approximately 29" long and the two pieces making up the pendant is 4" long. The crystals are capped with Tibetan silver. I used a clear quartz 4 mm and 6 mm bead with Tibetan vintage silver tube beads. The clasp is sterling which has naturally oxidized and blends quite beautifully. Crystal clear elegance worthy of any goddess. $450 US
PALMO
Wearing Palmo is a statement of ethnic proportions. Named after a Tibetan queen. this work is worthy of her title. Palmo is from a collection of old and vintage Tibetan silver beads which came from many dismantled pieces. The spacers are old African beads which had the right color and feel. Strung on waxed cording. She is 34" in length and can be shortened to 30" if one so desires. The larger silver beads are very rare shapes seen in old ethnic jewelry. The smaller round oval beads are a bit more common to see. Palmo is rare and regal. She is made for a queen. $1200 US
TARA CENTER BEAD
Tara has the richness of exquisite copal, lapis lazuli, and Tibetan old silver beads. The center large red bead is very rare to see. It is the only one I have ever come across at this size. The silver beads are very special and I simply do not see them anymore. The silver capped lapis and copal are easier to find as being a traditional component of Himalayan culture. I used large copal beads I inherited from my full blooded native American maternal grandmother as these were the perfect fit. The old metal spacers are antique African which added the beauty of the natural oxidation to the piece. She is 28" long strung with wax cording. I can restring her with a clasp and beading wire if so desired. She is a stunning adornament for any eccentric and can make any simple outfit stand out. $675 US
GYASA DETAIL
This work is designed around the unusual pendant piece which is old Tibetan ornamental silver surviving longer than the original necklace which would have been a treasure to have witnessed. When I found this bead, I had to have it in my collection. It took me awhile to dream up how she would be used. So this necklace is named after a Tibetan princess, Wangchen Gayasa as I could imagine this would be worn by her. This work holds together the old and the new, the vintage and the ancient. From trading beads, mala beads, contemporary semi precious stones, to coral beads and antique Tibetan shell beads infused with metal and tiny fragments of turquoise. She is strung on waxed cording and is 34" long with a pendant drop of 3 1/2". Truly a one of a kind never to been seen again adornament. $375 US
SHYAMA CLASP
Shyama is a bold statement in indiginous and ethnic jewelry. Titled after A Hindi girls name which also has references to the goddess Shiva, dark, and blue as the skin color of Krishna. Although when designing this necklace I was more inspired by works of the native American using silver and turquoises. The old silver beads are of Tibetan silver. The metal spacers are antique African beads and a misfit or two components were used. The various sizes and shapes of the turquoise beads and rocks are from around the world. Some of the larger turquoise rocks have been color enhanced, while others are natural from greens to blues. She is 33" in length and a bit heavy. The center large bead has embossed fishes which I have never seen in any old silver bead before. She is elegant and casual at the same time. A true beauty! $650 US
SAMAYA DETAIL
This is a simple piece with some quirkiness. She does not hang perfectly straight when worn which was part of my intention in using the unperfect drilled turquoise bead. I named this necklace Samaya. A baby girls name in Hindi which also means time and is referenced to numerology. As a child eventually outgrows the encumberances of an unbalanced gait, this work forever cherishes this characteristic. I used coral, old trading beads inherited from my native American grandmother, and turquoise beads. Some of the turquoise is natural in color and some of it has been color enhanced. She is 31" in length and is a simple work which adds color and crotchetness to any casual outfit. $175 US
KANNON
This lightwieght piece is named after Kannon, the revered Japanese Boddhisattva of compassion. It is made from a collection of many old wood mala prayer beads I purchased from an importer of antiques based in Kyoto Japan selling to a distict mailing list of collecters whose customer base was in Seattle, Washington. This work holds the many prayers and chants of Buddhist monks. Simple in style, but powerful in energy. A unisex necklace or one to wrap around the wrist. This necklace is 35" in length and strung on waxed cording. $95 US
UZUME
Uzume is named after the Shinto goddess of mediation. She holds this title with good reason as many of the seed and wood beads are made from old and vintage Japanese mala prayer beads. I used these beads with the rich russet vintage bakelight beads to bring out the elegance of the seed and wood. She is34" in length and is string on waxed cording. She would pair nicely with Kannon, though is stunning all on her own. $95 US
Detail clasp Nera
These five works have been created for my mother Nera and made their way back to me. All but Alces which I did not create but was worthy of this collection.
Nera is made with oxidized sterling silver beads to match the pendant, quartz and onyx beads. She is a heavier necklace because of the sterling silver and black onyx pendant. She is special as she was made for and is named after my mother.
Nana is made from large copal beads, old African metal spacers, and vntage bakelite beads strung on leather cording. She is named after my grandmother who gave me the copal beads she coveted for years.
Ossis, which is bone in Latin, is made from bone, vintage Japanese wood mala beads, and is strung on waxed cotton cording.
Hua is a Hawaiin name for seed, which is what I understood these large beads to be from when finding them. She has bone and vintage Japanese mala beads strung on waxed cotton cording.
Alces came from my mother's collection and is entirely made from elk horn beads.
